The Irregular Times is India’s first art and design quarterly newspaper. It is an opportunity for us to provide new perspectives at the intersection of art, media, activism, politics, and contemporary culture. In the newspaper, we highlight pressing stories; create interactive and thought-provoking content, all the while challenging the self-seriousness that typically runs the art world.
Along with the quarterly issue, the newspaper aim to amplify the endless possibilities of zine making, and zine culture in our country. In the newspaper, we will highlight pressing stories; create interactive and thought-provoking content, all the while challenging the self-seriousness that typically runs the art world.
We introduce extensive experimentation to our design process and like to bring in a new approach to type and page design breaking with traditional layout systems. The Irregular Times has a different design for each spread and column, completely discarding the traditional grid system This idea of freeing the design from a fixed grid instantly makes the layouts and typography more expressive and enhances the emotions of each columnWe go through multiple alterations of the initial design idea, and create something which reads well and expresses the contributors voice in the best form.
